About
Our mission & values
How it all started
“The prison system should focus on rehabilitation instead of punishment.”
“Action should be taken to reduce plastic pollution in oceans.”
“Air cushions should be used instead of styrofoam in packaging.”
While these are our students’ opinions, they are seeds for social change. Discourse—when fostered in a constructive and productive manner—can transform perspectives, connect people, heal divisions, and inspire change. However, rural and low-income students are often hindered from joining the debate space due to high team management and tournament fees.
It is in this tradition that Eloquence Academy has moved forward, offering schools and students a vast array of debate classes and tournaments that foster lifelong critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.
Classes
Over 1000 students (aged 5-19) participate in weekly debate classes and summer camps. Courses are offered online via Zoom and in-person at learning centers in 35 states. Special offerings include a class for native Spanish speakers and a monthly online public speaking course with Tennessee State University and University of Tennessee.
Tournaments
For the most dedicated speakers, the Academy offers a collection of competition opportunities: bi-annual debate tournaments, a speech competition, and a law conference. To establish a social impact, at least 50% of total entry fees (across all divisions/events) are donated to various local and national charities.
Debate-Inspired Classrooms
Debate-Inspired Classrooms assists primary and secondary schools developing their own debate programs. The Academy offers adaptive public speaking curriculum, debate resources, virtual instruction, and faculty professional development sessions focused on debate-inspired instructional practices.
Informed minds. Bold voices. Future leaders.
